Bakloh a small town stretched to 15 square kilometers is a beautiful place situated in the laps of majestic Himalayas. It’s a Cantonment area primarily. A Place worth visiting for all those who are peace seekers, who love mountains and those who belonged to this place once.
Bakloh is situated at 1445 meters above sea level. It is the gateway to District Chamba and it lies on the ridges of Hatthidhar range of Dhauladhar Mountains. The nearest railway station from Bakloh is at Pathankot Cantt.(Punjab). Bakloh comprises of many big and small villages. Though it has it’s own market, but dominant part of the market is situated at Kakira, a small town adjacent to Bakloh and even included in Bakloh.
Bakloh is an ideal place to the peace and solitude seekers. Here you will not find crowd and noise of cities. One can spend time meditating and doing yoga here. No big Malls or cinema theaters or markets are here and people are happy by themselves here. It’s a place where you will seldom find poverty or unemployment. Natives of Bakloh are cheerful, friendly and self satisfied.
Climate is a plus point of the place. It is moderate throughout the year. One can escape from scorching heat of May, June and chilling winter of December, January here.

It is said that Capt Baker of British Army stayed at Bakloh on his way to Punjab during Britishers reign over India. He found this place ideal for military station and sent his recommendations to the British government of India. The Gorkha Regiment was shifted from Pithoragarh to Bakloh in 1866. This is how, Bakloh came into existence. Bakloh has got its name from nearby village Bogla and one of its nearby village Bhagwati Nagar {popularly known as Bhekkar} got its name from the name of Capt. Baker
