Bakloh, a not so common place of Himachal Pradesh isn’t a poor place at all. It is a Cantonment area and an old place. Being one of the two Cantonments of Chamba an interior District of Himachal Pradesh, it has its own significance. There is no proper bus stand, neither a college, nor a reputed institute for higher learning, then also people are happy enough for whatever amenities are provided to them by the government. Our small Bakloh has A Military Hospital, An ECHS, A Harigiri Charitable Hospital, A Primary Health Center at Kakira, A Cantonment Board Hospital, A Cantonment Board Secondary School, Two Cantonment Board Primary Schools, A Kendriya Vidyalaya, Two Government Senior Secondary Schools, Kakira and Ghatasani, Two Government High Schools at Kakira (Girls), And Kumlari, Many State Government Primary Schools in the Periphery, A Private School Sandeepani School. The basic facilities of water is provided 24X7 by HP irrigation supplies and MES. HPSEB and MES provides Electricity facilities to every home at our Bakloh. A Hall named SAMRAT Hall is there exclusively for activities of Army. A Big Helipad(Chillama) is there which is used exclusively by Army.
May Bakloh be a neglected place after India’s independence, But it’s natives have never allowed it to be called a backward place. Bakloh is a place full of facilities and amenities mostly created by the people of Bakloh themselves, by the history of Bakloh and by all of us. The Natives of Bakloh are self independent and believe in hard work. The political leaders have always found excuse for non development of our place. Whenever something big is to be given to our Bakloh, the excuse called “Cantonment” and lack of Government land comes into play. Off late it has been neglected by the political parties. Then also it is a favorite market place for nearby places. Though the buses reaching Kakira (adjoining town to Bakloh) board and carry the most number of passengers from our place, then also there is no bus route in our name. One historical Bus route Pathankot- Bakloh closed recently for lack of passengers and loss of PRTC. Only one “Bharari” bus(HRTC)runs on the lonely route of ours. The dwellers of Bakloh are fully dependent on either their own vehicles or taxis to move to different places around the nation or abroad.
Bakloh has all the basic facilities available at minimal cost. Jassur and Pathankot are the favoured market places for natives of Baloh. People here are more than happy to live a content and simple life. A peaceful life is more blessed than a life gifted with many responsibilities and expectations. People here at Bakloh have a belief system ,”The Happiness lies within us.”
Bakloh being a cool and calm place has never agitated for its rights. It is happy with what the history, legacy and the nature has provided to it. People are happy with their life. Whatever is provided to it, people value it a lot. Our Bakloh is happy with what government has provided, but is far more happy with what nature has provided. Most families here are having their eldest family members residing here and the young ones away from home for earning their breads. The safe and healthy surrounding here gives everyone an assurance that nothing bad can happen here. Happiness is congenial here and we love our Bakloh for what we have.
A lot more can be done for Bakloh. It may be a contribution from Government or may be a contribution of people who once lived in Bakloh, but Bakloh needs more facilities in terms of the Hospital, Higher Education and Tourism. Roads connecting Bakloh to all the significant places need to be taken care off. The resources with which the place was rich are getting replenished rapidly. They need to be regenerated.
