The Hard Station Bakloh

A very few people of Bakloh know that the station Bakloh is termed as a hard station  in the Central Government records. Although the Indian army terms Bakloh as a semi field area, but it is a hard area in the records of Government of India.

Why Bakloh is HARD?

  1. The station Bakloh is 6 kilometers away from any of the National Highways of India.
  2. Bakloh has its nearest railway station as far as 60 kilometers from it. The nearest railway station is Pathankot Cantt.(PTKC), which is in Punjab.
  3. Bakloh has no scope for Higher education of the children in its locality. No college exists at Bakloh. The nearest college is 25 km away from Bakloh , The Government Degree College, Chowari as well as the DAV College Banikhet.
  4.  The  Transport facilities provided to Bakloh are very less in number. Only one Government bus has the route from Bakloh.  The natives of Bakloh rely on their own vehicles or Taxis for their journeys.
  5. The nearest Big hospital at Bakloh is Swami Harigiri Hospital at Bakloh. And it is not as big as it should be. One can say that facilities provided here are only for first aid and not for big problems. The patients have to be rushed for Pathankot or Kangra for serious ailments.
  6. The roads at Bakloh are pathetic on rainy days. No guarantee is there for the travelers in rainy seasons to reach at their destinations timely. The soil erosion is a big problem here in rainy season.
  7. The job openings at Bakloh are none. At present almost all the youth of Bakloh is employed, but away from Bakloh for the same reason. It is a big problem of our place.
  8. The nearest big market place as well as gas station is as far as 30 km from Bakloh, which makes it difficult for people to live here.

Hardships and Hard luck of Bakloh

Bakloh Rain

Being a favorite place of British officers once, Bakloh never got neglected as is neglected presently. We have the proof for the negligence played by the government. The biggest proof is that, if any big project came for allotment  to Bakloh, it always got snatched and stretched to some other place. The excuse always provided was that Bakloh has less government land. The Senior Secondary School Kakira is one of the oldest Government school in our area. Students from far away places came to study here. It never got upgraded till date, and the places from where students came to study here are now having Big colleges at their places.

The buses coming to Kakira, small town near Bakloh has the largest number of travelers boarding and leaving the buses, then also it doesn’t has it’s own bus stand. Moreover, no bus begins its journey from here. One can imagine, how much we have been neglected.

Once established as a big hospital of the whole District Chamba in 1998, today Harigiri Hospital Kumlari is in search of a well established Doctor. The government negligence has played its part. Today one can see the building of the hospital , but inside it is hollow emptiness over there.

What are the goodies then?

Only the above said hardships are the ones which make our Bakloh hard. Everything else here is good. In fact the site https://bakloh.com has been made for elaborating the  glory of our place called Bakloh. One can observe its nature, it’s natives,   it’s weather, it’s amenities, it’s peacefulness and the scope of tourism here. One can ask the people who have lived once here about Bakloh, everyone has praise for Bakloh. Though Bakloh doesn’t have many facilities, but here we have cool weather, nice people, clean and clear air to breathe, clean water readily available and happiness all around. There are organizations like Gorkha Sabha ready to help any one and everyone in need. A Nursing College has been established by Hargiri Charitable trust.

We love our place because we believe in happiness and contentment. We believe in a tension free life, a life which needs only the basic needs of life – Roti (food) Kapda (Clothes) aur Makaan (House).
