1. Kendriya Vidyalaya Bakloh Cantt.

If you are coming from District Kangra of Himachal Pradesh or are coming from other states to District Chamba, You will find that the KV Bakloh is the nearest of all. Kendriya Vidyalaya Bakloh is the oldest KV of all the 4 KVs and was established in the year 1982. It is a defense sector school. In the early days from its establishment to 2014 , the school ran on barracks provided by Army. On 16 Feb, 2014, it got its own building at a beautiful location of Bakloh.  It has 12 classes, and the 11th and 12th standard students have the option to choose either of the Science stream or Commerce stream. Its CBSE affiliation number is 600006.

This Vidyalaya is located in beautiful soothing surroundings of Dhoula-Dhar on the north side of H. P. on Pathankot – Dalhousie road. The Vidyalaya provides ample opportunities to children for their all round development – physical, intellectual and cultural. The beautiful surrounding adds to the aesthetic sense of the children. It is a winter school, meaning thereby that school is closed for 50 days in winter and for 10 days in summer.

The Vidyalaya houses 16 classrooms, and has all the requisite departments and offices as per school’s requirement. 2. Kendriya Vidyalaya Banikhet (Dalhousie Cantt.)

Kendriya Vidyalaya Banikhet NHPC , Dalhousie Cantt. is a big name in the field of Education. Established in the year 1983, it is a school which has got integrated from two schools into one. Earlier, the school was located at Dalhousie and was a defense sector KV. At only 2000, the school was shifted to Banikhet with NHPC doing all the goods. NHPC gave a big chunk of contribution for establishing its big building at Banikhet.  If you have ever visited the school, you must have been fascinated by the fact that how beautifully it has been carved in a small space. It is a school with four floors. It is a school in which students can opt for 2 streams Non Medical and Commerce in classes 11th  and 12th. Its CBSE affiliation no. is 600007.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Banikhet is situated in the spectacular Hills of Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas in the Dalhousie Tehsil , Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh. It is a winter school and has a different schedule of vacations as compared to any of the KV of the nation. 50 winter vacation holidays are observed in the months of Jan to Feb, and summer break is of 10 days.

The Vidyalaya houses 18 classrooms, and has all the requisite departments and offices as per school’s requirement. It is a double section school and has 874 students studying in it at present(2021-22). The school is headed by Principal of the school and has 25 teaching staff members and 7  non teaching staff members.

3. Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Chamera (Khairi)

The Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Chamera is located at Khairi. It is a project school having classes I to XII with Science, Arts and Commerce streams for classes 11th and 12th. Established in the year 1993, the school is privileged to have a profoundly learned, experienced and well qualified staff. The school has a huge double storey building with well furnished class rooms, well equipped science laboratories, maths laboratory, computer labs, LCD room, library and a developed play ground. Affiliated by CBSE, its CBSE affiliation no. is 600014.

Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Chamera is situated in the remotest locations out of the 4 Vidyalayas being discussed. It is a summer school and has a schedule of vacations as other summer schools of  KVs of the nation. 40 summer vacation holidays are observed in the months of May, June, and winter break is of 20 days.

The Vidyalaya houses 16 classrooms, and has all the requisite departments and offices as per school’s requirement. It is a single section school and has 438 students studying in it at present(2021-22). The school is headed by Principal of the school and has 25 teaching staff members and 7  non teaching staff members. The most distinguishing fact about this KV is that it is the only KV of Chamba District to have Humanities stream functional. Also every facility has been provided by NHPC to this station.

4. Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Chamera (Karian)

Located at NHPC Residential Complex on the bank of Ravi river at Karian, The Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Chamera is the school which is nearest to the district Headquarter of Chamba. The school is only 10 km away from Chamba, but is the farthest KV of Chamba District from nearest railway station of Pathankot. It was established in the year 2000. Affiliated by CBSE, its affiliation no. is 600020.

The KV No. 2 Chamera is housed in a two storeyed building and a well established Games and Sports complex. The view from the school and its campus are scintillating. The high peaks of Bharmour mostly snow laded are mesmerizing. It is the school which provides almost 100 % accommodation to its staff courtesy The NHPC.

At present the school has 458 students enrolled to 12 classes from 1 to 12. The school has only Science stream in 11th and 12th standard. It is a summer station, hence the 40 days summer vacations and 20 days winter breaks are scheduled every year by the KVS for it.

Now if you have to compare the 4 KVs, you will have to take various parameters into account. You will have to take either the prospective of a parent who wants to compare the 4, a student of any of the school or an employee of KV who wants to serve in any of the Vidyalayas.

From the prospective of a parents/students

If you are a student or a parent of a student who is to be admitted to any of the KVs, just keep in mind that Kendriya Vidyalaya are one of the best institutions of the nation. The curriculum of these schools are uniform throughout. All the schools are headed by the Principal who is also under the administration of Assistant commissioners and Deputy Commissioners. The administration is strict enough to make the quality of education imparted to be excellent.
