Bakloh is a beautiful place to live. The place itself is a spot from where one can jump to many memorable destinations. Dalhousie, Khajjiyar, Jot, Chamba,Purthu, Bhalei mata, Mukteshwar, and many more. This post is about one of the most beautiful picnic spot near Bakloh called- “Purthu”, the Mini Goa.. It is a mesmerizing place to be with family and friends. A place made by nature for nature lovers. A beautiful lake and cool waves flowing through the place whole day through.
Purthu is a small place, a bank of the Lake made by Ranjit Sagar Dam on river Ravi. It is in Basohli , the historic town of Jammu. The place is as much near to Punjab and Himachal as to the other places of Jammu itself.
From Bakloh Purthu is just 28 km away. One has to reach Dunera (Punjab) and then turn to right side of the Dunera cross over so as to reach Atal Setu. Crossing the Atal setu is itself a treat. Atal setu is a Bridge over the river Ravi, built over by a new technique . It seems to be a hanging bridge and a beautiful one too. After crossing the Atal setu, we reach the Jammu Border and crossing the bridge means crossing the interstate border. After crossing the bridge, we need to drive just 2 to 3 km to reach the end of the road which is the bank of the lake. Purthu is just 60 km away from Pathankot and 50 km away from Dalhousie.
The Springs and the early Summers are the ideal time of the year to visit the place. The climate here is on the hotter side. Also the autumn time is ideal for visit to the place.
As per the Day time, the evenings are better time to visit then the after-noons. The place is an open ground with very less vegetation. Hence the ones visiting the place on a hot day in afternoon will have to struggle to find a proper shade for resting.
