Science- A Systematic Study
Science is a systematic study of things around us and logic behind everything happening around us. In our scheme of studies, the students are introduced with Science only after they study environmental studies till 5th class. The Environmental studies gets bifurcated into Science and Social Science. Here we are talking about Science. Science as a subject is a simple and excellent subject which needs understanding and memorizing is just a secondary thing in it.
How to study Science is a question which needs a simple solution for all those students who study it. The following things must be kept in mind so as to study Science in a better way and excel in studies.
1. Read before hand
Do the assigned reading of the chapter or concept before it is to be studied in class- An approach of getting prepared before any war should be there for studying Science. If a concept is read earlier, it is far easy to understand it.The things read earlier makes you aware of the fact that what all are the key words or concepts and what is to be emphasized for studying. Also one gets an idea of the difficult parts of the topic that could be asked from the teacher during the class.
2. Read yourself and understand
Reading of the topics being studied is a must. One should not think that he/she has to understand only. Reading makes the subject Science a subject of enrichment as well as a source of first hand information.
3. Scrutinize each concept
Science contains concepts and concepts. A single chapter may contain a lot of concepts and they must be scrutinized. A systematic way of scrutinizing involves the first 2 points.
4. Revise and read again
One student studying Science must always read each chapter more than once. Thorough reading and reading again kills the chance of any concept being left. A systematic study always needs spontaneity and no loop hole. For spontaneity we need to read again and again.
5.Don't Skip problems and examples
Problem solving ability is one of the foremost requisite of studying Science. Any problem, numerical or example given in the book is for understanding and for checking our abilities to solve problem. In other words it is a check of your knowledge in the form of application.
6. Work with formulae
Formulae are the life of Science. Formulae will be there in Science and they are meant to be worked upon.Apply formulae to problems of Science, Solve them and enjoy the essence of Science and its learning. Make it a challenge to apply each formula given in the concepts to solve at least 5 problems .
7. Keep a check in your work
Your Science work should be spontaneous, regular and non-compromising. Nothing asked in the book should be left with. Be opportunists to learn Science by keeping a check in your Science work.
8. Make your own notes
Notes should be your own. They should be original. No much words but flowcharts and illustrative figures and drawings will suffice. Always write the crust and summary of the chapter studied.
9.Take help of visual aids for better understanding
Use all the resources present for you. Make your Science study interesting and useful. Try to learn new techniques and get the help of visual and audio aids to enhance your learning and understanding.
Audio and visual aids boost the Science learning. One who sees a beaker will be able to explain it easily as compare to the one who has never seen it but only read about it. There are rich contents of Science on web. One can take its help to enhance his/her understanding of the concepts.
10. Give extra credit to Science
All scheme of studies need studying and studying hard. But if you are studying many subjects in a class, then extra credit must be given to the subject called Science. Science needs serious approach and non serious study of Science will leave you no where.
11. Learn by doing
Learning theories of Science is easy for those who learn by doing. Performing an activity containing that aspect of study will enhance learning and make the study of Science fruitful and enjoyable.
12. Help others to learn
Be a teacher and helping hand for other fellow students and enjoy deep learning of Science. When you try to explain the Science of things to someone you tend to increase your horizon of studies and understanding.
