Importance of food

Question 1. What is the importance of food?
Answer. Food is required to all the living things in this world.They need it for surviving, for energy, growth and development.

Question 2. What are the basic nutrients that we get from food?
Answer- We get Carbohydrates, Protein, Oils and Fats, Vitamin and Minerals from the food we eat.

Question 3. Why are carbohydrates needed in our food?
Answer- Carbohydrates are needed for getting instant energy.

Question 4. Give examples of food items that contain Carbohydrates in them?
Answer- Milk, Fruits, Cereal, Rice, Potatoes, Corn, etc..

Question 5. Why are proteins needed in our food?
Answer- Proteins are needed for growth and development of our body.

Question 6. Give examples of food items that contain Protein in them?
Answer- Meat, Poultary, Fish, Soyabeans, Pulses, etc.

Question 7. Why Oils and Fats are needed in our food?
Answer- Oil and Fats provide concentrated source of energy.

Answer- Ghee, Edible Oil, Butter, Whole Milk, Fried food, Dry fruits etc..

Question 9. Why Vitamins and Minerals are needed in our food?

Answer- Vitamins and Minerals provide strength to our skeletal system, bolster our immune system,  and mainly help our body grow and work the way it should.

Answer- Raw vegetables, fruits, Eggs, Milk, Dry fruits, nuts, etc..

Question 1. What are Food Ingredients?
Answer- All those food items that are needed to prepare a particular dish are called Food ingredients for that dish. Eg: Ingredients of rice are- Raw rice and water while Ingredients of Veg Biryani are- Raw Rice, vegetables, spices, salt, water, etc.

Animals and their food.

Question 1. What are Herbivores? Give examples?
Answer: Herbivores are those animals which feed only on plants for their survival. Eg: Deer, Cow, Elephant, Horse, Zebra, etc.
Question 2. What are Carnivores? Give examples?
Answer: Carnivores are those animals which feed only on animals for their survival. Eg: Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Hyena, Panther etc.
Question 3. What are Omnivores? Give Examples?
Answer:  Omnivores are those animals which feed on animals as well as plants for their survival. Eg: Dog, Cat, Crow, Dolphins, Rats etc.

Question 1. Do you find that all living things need the same kind of food?
Answer: No all living things do not need same kind of food. A Lion cannot feed on grass, a Cow cannot eat meat.
